We recently lost an Online Business Development deal to an PR Agency, which I am really bummed about.

Traditional PR agencies should stick to what they are good at, which is managing the flow of information between an organization and it’s publics (yes that’s from Wikipedia).

What they are not good at is web design, devlopment, SEO, Social Media and PPC. More than likely they will outsource the design work to some “Artist” and development to India, just to save a few bucks.

The irony is that they charge large amounts of management fees per month ranging from $ 5000.00 to $ 20,000.00 a month and all they do all day is talk, talk, talk…I am not oppose to working with PR agencies, on the contrary, I love hot models in skimpy dresses serve hors oeuvres and cocktails all night.

I can’t wait to see the result, as PR agnecies should just leave web design and web developement to the pros.

So we all agree IE has some bugs, and unfortunately every client out there seems to use it (count your lucky stars if they use IE7). By far one of the most annoying is how IE displays margin. The other on my list is the ie png transparency problem. However, there is a fix for this weird IE display problem.

The fix is fairly simple: display:inline;

That’s it use display:inline; on your in-line element (images, text) adjacent to a floated div and your good to go. The bug is related to IE’s weird results on floated div’s.

Weird IE Display Problem with out display:inline;

There is nothing more frustrating to me, than seeing the amount of dog poop on the street in our neighborhood. It is amazing how many people simply let their dog poop on the street and do not bother to pick up after them.

I was walking our own golden retriever - Tosca, today and forgot to bring a plastic bag to pick up the poop. Well, guess what? I did not just walk away, but grabbed some leaves off the street and pick it up.

No big deal, but rather a simple alternative to keep the streets clean. My wife tells me to be quiet, as I love telling people: “You just gonna leave that poop on the street?”

I love calling out people! I am never harsh or rude, unlike my buddy.

A good friend of mine recently was having a BBQ in his yard with some friends, when a lady walked by with her German Sheppard. The dog stopped and laid down a good pound or so. The lady did not bother to pick it up, but simply walked away. We were all like what the hell?

Then our friend Steve went nuts. He grabbed the pound of poop bare handed, ran after the women and screamed: “Hey lady, you forgot to pick up your poop”! and then threw the whole thing at her.

The poop splattered all over her and she freaked out.

I do not encourage anyone to do the same, but please lets all clean up after out pets?

Asus just put the finishing touches on the full review of the Eee PC 901 12G XP. The rep at ASUS was kind enough not only to give us an MSRP for the 901, but also pricing for the 1000 and 1000H series. However, he was careful to note that the prices for the 1000 series are “estimated and subject to change,” meaning that ASUS may adjust the amounts before release, but that this is their current plan.

Eee PC 901 (both Linux and Windows versions): $599

Eee PC 1000 (both Linux and Windows versions): $699

Eee PC 1000H (Windows version only): $649

Asus has amazingly fast, responsive, and portable laptops at a phenomenon price.

I find it amazing how people don’t realize that certain fonts aren’t web based. Of course since the design comes from a web designer (actually a graphic designer who thinks he can design for the web) there are all these crazy fonts. So I think to myself okay, we can have images all over the place or make it SEO friendly and make it all text. Personally I prefer to make anything that can be text hard coded into the HTML. But certain times you can’t do that. So I’ll code everything and try to accommodate for the crazy fonts the designer had for a web based font (usually i go with verdana if they had some off the wall font). Once I show it to the project manager they go, wait “It didn’t look like that in the design.” And I’ll plead my case saying well it’s not a web based font so we can’t get it to look like that, plus it needs to be SEO friendly. Their response is usually “wait, web based font huh, I thought all the fonts in photoshop were web-based.” At this point I want to pull my hair out and then I’ll explain my reasoning behind what I did. Usually I end up winning in the end, but not after about an hour of arguing with the project manager and the graphic designer. Whyyi do people not know this!
